KALYPSO ISLAND

the vacations we don't talk about

Kalypso is a concept in development for a biographical theater project that engages in visualizing and staging our mental challenges and inner struggles through the application of biographical theater work and visual aesthetic means using as a narrative guidance tool the epic story of the Odyssey from an introspective perspective - in other words: KALYPSO tells the story of the mental-taboo-adventures that take place within our heads.

The vision for KALYPSO is to become a biographical theater piece that will go into production next year. Staged with a mixture of professional performers and experts of everyday life. They will tell the story of a collage of inner worlds that resemble Homer’s islands full of impossible challenges. They are all Odysseus and they need to escape the island of Kalypso in order to get back home. KALYPSO is a project that can be seen as an invitation in one’s head, to the parallel lives we live in this era of great mental stress. It’s not taboo. It’s human.
